Los Golden Globes 2018 se han vestido de negro para visibilizar la protesta feminista orquestada tras el movimiento #MeToo en contra de la cultura de abuso machista predominante en Hollywood. A través de esta forma de protesta, apoyada tanto por mujeres como hombres, visibilizan la muerte de los valores dentro de la industria.
Además del dress code de color negro, la mayoría de celebrities acudieron a los Golden Globes 2018 con un complemento más: un pin con la frase, Time’s Up. Una iniciativa que comenzó a principios de año cuando más de 300 mujeres de Hollywood firmaron una carta denuncia contra el acoso sexual en todos los ámbitos. Este movimiento incluye un fondo de defensa legal que ya ha alcanzando 13,4 de los 15 millones de dólares que se propusieron como meta, y que tienen como objetivo dar apoyo legal a mujeres y hombres que han sufrido acoso sexual en sus puestos de trabajo, además de exigir igualdad para las mujeres.
Entre los grandes ganadores de los Golden Globes 2018 destacan, en la categoría de televisión, la serie Big Little Lies y gran parte de su elenco (Nicole Kidman, Laura Dern, Alexander Skarsgard) así como el de The Handmaid’s Tales y su protagonista, Elisabeth Moss. En cuanto al cine, sobresale el premio a Guillermo del Toro con La Forma del Agua y la película Lady Bird, con Saoirse Ronan, además del largometraje, Tres Anuncios en las Afueras, ganadora en la categoría de drama.
